Incredible Startpage is Web App ready! (1.1.0)

You might have heard from the web already - exciting new changes are coming soon to Chrome, and we have made Incredible Startpage ready for it!

Starting this version (1.1.0), Incredible Startpage is now Chrome Web Apps ready. It looks and works completely the same old good Incredible Startpage at the moment, but when Chrome App Store launches and you have your first taste of Chrome Web Apps, Startpage will be able to show your installed apps and allow you to launch your apps from it. Yay!

If you are upgrading from older versions (1.0.0 or before), remember to accept the new permissions for the latest Incredible Startpage if you haven't already! For Ubuntu users please manually update to Chrome 8.0 stable or above to be able to use the extension! Thanks.

We are all looking forward to it. Enjoy!

I have tried out the new start page. I have a few web apps installed, but none of them are showing up in the app tab. They show up just fine in the normal start page but not in this one.

@Spino Prime Hm, mind sending us a screenshot, OS and Chrome version info at contactus AT visibotech.com ? That will be very helpful, thanks!

Cannot uninstalled Web Apps.
How to?

@Springsfield: please go to chrome://extensions/ to uninstall/disable both extensions and webapps.

There's a bug with your new version as soon as we get web apps.

When you open a new tab, and the incredible start page loads. But if the window of chrome isn't maximized, the position of the words "advanced options" overlays the words "my book marks".

It would also be much better if the app logos could be large logos like logos in the chrome default theme, or you could place them in two rows instead of a single row as of right now.

I agree that the apps should be in a grid (rather than in one column) like the bookmarks (or more similar to the default Chrome start page).

Thanks for the great extension!

Problem seems to have fixed itself, apps are now showing, how about you add the chrome web app store to the list of apps? Like on the new tab page. It has a link to the chrome web store plus icon.

The two new tabs (My Bookmarks, My Apps) flash briefly when StartPage starts up, but they do not stay there.

Any suggestions?

Sandy@visibo said...

@all Thanks for the suggestions! Many stuffs have been fixed in last push. @Michael Hm, the tabs are hidden when you don't have any apps. Try to install at least one app and see. :P

@Michael: The Chrome Web Store is still in beta stage, and will go public in Jan. You can go to chrome.google.com/webstore to take a sneak peek and try them out though. :P

Thanks for an awesome extension, I stopped using SpeedDial about a month ago in favour of this. :)

I noticed some inconsistency with the app support though: bookmarks open in the same tab, but apps open in a new tab. Can you make apps behave the same way as bookmarks?

Also, is there any chance of being able to see apps and bookmarks on the same screen in a future release, so that I don't have to choose? I want everything to be one click away, currently some things are two-clicks away.

Thanks!

I love the app, but is there a way to sort my apps into alpha order, instead of them all just tossed in there in the order I installed them?

Harder than heck to find the app I'm looking for, which makes this wonderful program far less useful than it would otherwise be.

Please make it possible to rearrange apps icons, say, by clicking and dragging to desired location.
